Matching Grants 2007 - 2008

District 6170 Call for Matching Grant Proposals

Beginning July 1, 2007 clubs in District 6170 may submit matching grants to Rotary International.

New for 2007:  District 6170 has dedicated $10,000 of DDF to help clubs in the district meet the $5,000 matching grant minimum.  Before submitting a proposal please review all information available at http://www.rotary.org/foundation/grants/matching/index.html

All required forms are available in writable PDF and Word formats.  Clubs are encouraged to seek club partners both within and outside District 6170.

Matching Grants support the international service projects of Rotarians and are based on international partnership: Rotary clubs or districts in at least two countries (a partner outside of the project country and a partner within the project country) must work together to plan, implement, and complete the project.

Things to remember:

·        Requests for District 6170 matching funding will be reviewed as received until all funds are expended

·        Proposals requesting no more than a 1-1 match from the district will be given priority over those requesting higher matching amounts.

·        Grant applications must be sent to RI by March 31, 2008.

·        District grant chair, Christi Hughes, must review and sign off on all applications.  Please contact her as soon as you begin to plan your project.

·        Rotary International will match cash contributions at 50% and DDF funds at 1-1.  For example, a club or clubs wanting to contribute $4,000 in cash toward a humanitarian project would need to request at least $3,000 in DDF matching funds to meet the minimum $5,000 matching grant requirement.  Total budget for such a project would be $12,000.  See http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/downloadcenter/pdfs/mg_5000_faq.pdf for more information on meeting the $5,000 minimum request.

·        Review all terms and conditions for matching grants available at

http://www.rotary.org/newsroom/downloadcenter/foundation/humanitarian.html#141

·        A progress report (after 12 months) and a final report must be completed.

·        Please plan on at least 1 month needed to have the grant approved by the District and expect Rotary International to need 2-3 months to approve a grant.

·        Clubs cannot be reimbursed for projects already underway.  Do not begin to spend money until your matching grant is approved by Rotary International.
